DAY ONE: Basic control of Paraglider and small hops.
AIM:
To know about Paragliding equipment and
basic do's and don'ts.
To practice and develop skill to control the paraglider.
To learn the take-off technique.
To understand the Do’s and Don’ts of flying.
TIME REQUIRED: At least 2 hours of practical training
in the morning and 3 hours in the evening.
EXERCISE:
In the morning session you will be shown a paraglider. The Instructor will explain
to you the various parts of the equipment and their functions. The instructor
will demonstrate the ground handling techniques. Then you wear the harness and
start practicing ground handling on a plain ground. Under the guidance of the
Instructor you will gradually progress and gain enough skills to control the
glider all by yourself. At the end of this session, a ground class will be
conducted to prepare you for your first small hops from a gentle slope.
In the evening session you will be taken to a small slope on which you will be taking small 'baby' flights to get a feeling and understanding of take offs and landings.
DAY TWO: More practice and first Solo Flight
TIME REQUIRED: 2 to 3 hours of training on slope in the morning and about 3 hours at flying site in the evening.
AIM:
To gain confidence at take-off and landings.
To get acquainted to height progressively.
To prepare mentally for first solo flight
Solo flight
EXERCISE
You will continue to practice your hops from a gentle slope and gain confidence in handling the paraglider. This will prepare you for your solo flight. In the evening session you will be taken to a hill for your first solo flight. Your flight plan will be explained to you and you will be mentally prepared for your flight. You will take off in the cool gentle evening breeze breaking the barrier of fear and enjoying a free flight just like a bird.
DAY THREE: More flights.
TIME REQUIRED: About 4 hours in the evening.
AIM :
To have more flights and gain experience from each flight.
To develop judgment for soft landing.
EXERCISE:
After a safety briefing you will resume flying. The
instructor will give you a flying task depending on the weather conditions. Hereafter, your next flights will be utilized
to improve and practice your overall flying skills.
Apart from the thrills of the day, you will take away with
you the inner glow that comes from having achieved something that you had only
dreamt about. WHAT NEXT
Imagine walking along a ridge of hills set among beautiful
mountains. You stop at a likely spot, feel the wind in your hair and lay out the
paraglider you carried in your backpack. You put on your helmet, get into your
harness, do your pre flight checks then with a gentle tug raise your wing into
the wind above your head. Moments later you are flying, smoothly circling among
the hills with the silence of a soaring bird. No roaring engines. No heavy
equipment. No running cost, just the sound of the wind and the beauty of the
mountains.
The ultimate fun of Paragliding is to fly independently on
the hills. Today it is one of the world’s most popular outdoor pursuits. One of
the most attractive aspects of paragliding, unlike other aviation sports, is the
fact that it is self-regulating. No documentation hassle. No licensing required.
THE FOUR DAY COURSE
Once you complete your basic three day course you are eligible to do a four days course where you will be trained to fly in stronger wind conditions and introduced to ridge soaring. You will learn to stay up in the air for longer period of time, learn to fly with other pilots in the air at the same time and gain experience fly with minimum help from your instructor.
