ADVANCE PARAGLIDING TRAINING

Introduction  For those who wish to take the sport further Space Apple offers advance training to their students once they complete their basic course. This is where serious the sport is  highly experienced Instructors and pilots at Space Apple have been flying and training people to fly paragliders for the past 10 years. They have successfully trained more than 1000 students and continue to do so.

The Training Program

Practicing is the best part of learning. So your practical training is our top priority. You are carefully guided – Physically and intellectually. The joy that you derive from the sport increases exponentially, as you gain knowledge and develop new skills.


The training sessionsis Four-day course is conducted at Virar near Mumbai.  You spend about three to four hours each day learning the various skills of Paragliding. At the end of the course you will be flying independently with minimum instructions on radio.


Day one

The first day is spend in learning advance ground handling techniques on flat ground as well as on gentle slopes.

During ground training you are taught the following exercise:
Unassisted laying out of glider, various methods of inflating glider overhead. Using reverse launch method. Inspecting the flying equipment before launch.Controlling of the inflated glider overhead, Application and effectiveness of controls
, Collapsing of the glider and stowing and folding the glider.


Day two

On the second day, you keep on practicing and improving your skills learned on the first day. If the conditions are favourable you go at the takeoff and do the same practice. By the end of this session you would have learnt:

Inflating laying and inflating your glider unassisted. Moving around with an inflated glider at takeoff while waiting for right conditions for launch. Aborting your takeoff in controlled manner.

Day three
On the third day you takeoff in a soar able wind conditions and get the basic lessons for ridge soaring. Depending on your comfort level you will be asked to perform various tasks such as "360 degree turns", "big ears" , weight shift turns, hands free flying etc. You will also be guided to land safely in cross wind direction.. The Instructors will closely and continuously keep a track on the progress of each student. More and more complex flying tasks are introduced depending on each individual student’s performance. This session will see you through:

Controlled take-off and landings, High flights, 360 deg turns , Circuit and landing pattern, Spot landing, Landing back at the launch point.

Day four

On the fourth day you try to improve your skills learned the previous session.

You will be watched by your instructors all the time to judge your comfort level and prepare special notes for briefing after your flight. You will also be introduced to advance theory lessons.


Apart from the necessary theory you would have learnt:

Smooth take-offs, How to analyze ridge lift areas, How to stay up longer, Sharper and coordinated turns, Glide judgment, Landing judgment, Spot landing at designated areas etc.

We follow a syllabus. In case due to some reasons we are unable to complete the syllabus in four days we extend the training further at no extra cost. Timings are flexible and stretched over weekends. Though we can train on any day most of our working students are with us only on Saturdays and Sundays.
